Through personalized career planning, hands-on training, and ongoing coaching, we equip participants with the skills and confidence needed to succeed in competitive, community-based employment.
Meaningful employment is a key step toward independence, and at Pursuit Center, we help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) build careers that match their skills and passions. Through PursuitJOBS, our comprehensive employment services program, we provide personalized career planning, job training, and ongoing coaching to help individuals succeed in competitive, community-based employment.
Our approach is person-centered and skills-focused, ensuring that each participant has the tools, confidence, and support needed to thrive in the workplace. Whether it’s assisting high school students with pre-employment training, helping adults explore career opportunities, or supporting individuals in long-term job placements, we are committed to fostering independence, inclusion, and success.
Through personalized support, strong community partnerships, and real-world job experiences, we help individuals gain the confidence, skills, and opportunities they need to build fulfilling careers. Our primary goal is to help motivated individuals to find success in competitive, integrated, and community-based employment in areas of their interest. We provide person-centered planning through every stage of the employment journey with services that include:
ThEPIC Center provides career assessment and development for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, starting at age 14. Through hands-on job exploration using actual workplace tools, participants discover career options while developing essential work habits. Our services include PAES Assessment, Pre-Employment Training, Vocational Adjustment Training (VAT), and Personal Social Adjustment Training (PSAT), creating meaningful pathways to employment that match each person's unique abilities and interests.
Pre-Employment Evaluations are tools that evaluate a client’s work and training background, general functional capacities, and social behavior. They are designed to determine a client’s present and future vocational potential as well as the client’s employment-related strengths and limitations.
Our specialized training programs help individuals develop the essential skills needed for workplace success. Personal Social Adjustment Training (PSAT) focuses on building acceptable work behaviors and improving interpersonal skills that may have previously interfered with obtaining and maintaining competitive integrated employment.
Complementing this approach, our Vocational Adjustment Training (VAT) enhances interpersonal abilities related to fundamental workplace traits and attitudes. This comprehensive training develops work-related skills critical for successful, sustainable employment. Together, these programs create a solid foundation for career success and greater independence.
Pre-Employment Training for Transitioning Youth (ages 14-22) provides transitioning individuals who meet the definition of a “student with a limitation” with workplace readiness training to develop social skills and independent living. The program also offers support in career exploration counseling, instruction in self-advocacy, and instruction in person-centered planning.
Work Experience Training is a program designed to help individuals with disabilities gain real-world job experience while earning wages. It provides short-term, subsidized employment opportunities in various industries, allowing participants to develop skills, build confidence, and improve employability.
Job Placement Assistance helps train and prepare clients for their job search to obtain employment in positions that meet their individual needs. We also offer support in career path navigation, employment application training, resume development, mock interviews, and elevator pitches.
Supported Employment is designed to provide clients with limitations and the support they need to achieve competitive integrated employment. The services include individualized job development and placement services along with ongoing support such as intensive job skills training and extended benchmark reviews to help our clients sustain meaningful long-term employment.
Job Coaching | Job Skills Training is offered after clients are placed in a position that helps with job retention. Each participant receives tailored coaching based on their specific needs, ensuring they develop essential workplace skills, confidence, and independence while excelling in their position.
