Recreation & Education
Pursuit Learning Academy, our adult day program, a licensed Individualized Skills and Socialization program designed to enrich and strengthen the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through engaging classes, activities, and community outings, we create pathways for lifelong learning and personal growth. Our program is designed to address the unique needs of each person, no matter their ability, supporting adults in developing essential life skills, pursuing personal interests, and building greater independence.
Our Approach Includes:
Our dedicated instructors understand that everyone learns differently, and they work to create inclusive, supportive environments where each person can progress at their own pace. Whether developing practical skills for independent living or exploring new interests, participants find opportunities to grow while building confidence and connections through both on-site and community-based experiences.
Our engaging specialty clubs focus on creative expression and skill development in areas our participants are passionate about. In Arts & Crafts Club, members explore various artistic mediums while developing fine motor skills and self-expression. Cooking Club provides hands-on experience with kitchen safety and meal preparation, while Technology Club helps members build confidence with computers and digital devices. Through these focused group activities, participants develop new abilities, pursue their interests, and form meaningful connections with peers who share their enthusiasm.
Our community outings extend learning beyond the classroom, offering participants real-world experiences and opportunities to practice social skills in diverse settings. Through our valuable partnership with METRO, we're able to provide reliable transportation that makes these enriching experiences possible. Whether visiting local museums, exploring parks, dining at restaurants, or shopping at grocery stores, these outings help build confidence in navigating public spaces and engaging with the community. Each excursion is carefully planned to provide meaningful experiences while supporting individual goals for independence and community integration.
Our focused mini lessons empower participants with essential life skills and knowledge for greater independence. Through interactive sessions, individuals learn valuable skills in money management, personal safety, and technology use. We emphasize self-advocacy and civil engagement, helping participants understand their rights and roles as active citizens. These targeted lessons are designed to build confidence and capability in everyday situations while supporting personal growth and independence.
Young at Heart provides our participants 55 and up with activities and experiences designed specifically for their age group. With an enhanced schedule of community outings and age-appropriate programming, members stay active and engaged while building meaningful friendships. The program balances social activities, learning opportunities, and community exploration to support healthy, active aging in an inclusive setting.
Throughout the year, we host six vibrant community events that bring everyone together to celebrate and connect. These special occasions give our participants a chance to dress up, socialize, and enjoy themed activities alongside family, friends, and community members. From seasonal celebrations to holiday parties, these events create opportunities for fun, self-expression, and meaningful community inclusion.
