A Legacy of Service Through Running Since 1985

The HBA Eikenburg 8K Fun Run began with a vision. In 1985, John J. Eikenburg, then-president of the Houston Bar Association (HBA), approached the association's executive director, Kay Sim, with the idea to establish a fun run that would benefit a Houston charity. Together, they selected the Pursuit Center as the beneficiary, creating what would become one of Houston's most enduring charitable sporting traditions.

More than 40 years, the HBA has organized the HBA Eikenburg 8K Fun Run, building on its founder's vision. This signature event has raised over $1.5 million to support the Pursuit Center, a vital Houston nonprofit organization serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism.
